One Last Summer Glow!

There’s just something about summer that feels a little lighter, a little easier… and this one did not disappoint.

It was the kind of summer made up of simple moments that somehow turn into the best memories. Long beach days where time didn’t matter, just the sound of the waves and sandy feet that somehow followed me everywhere. A few perfect days spent out on Fire Island — salty air, bike rides, and that feeling like you’re a world away without actually going very far.

There were boat rides that turned into sunset chases, the kind where you don’t realize how late it’s gotten until the sky is already painted in pinks and oranges. Nights filled with live music — summer concerts that somehow make even a random Tuesday feel like an event. And a weekend escape to Narragansett Beach that felt like pressing pause for a minute… ocean views, fresh air, and a full reset.

Somewhere in between it all, I traded flip flops for a night in the city and caught a Broadway show — a reminder that summer doesn’t always have to mean staying local to feel special.

It wasn’t anything over-the-top. Just a lot of really good days strung together.

And now here we are… that end-of-August feeling.

I’ll always love summer — the spontaneity, the late nights, the “we’ll figure it out” kind of plans. But I’d be lying if I said I’m not a little excited for what’s next. Back-to-school routines, crisp mornings, pumpkin everything, and cozy nights at home that come a little earlier each day.

There’s something about the shift that feels grounding.

Before we fully turn the page, though, there are still a few ways to soak up the last of it right here in Massapequa:

• A community picnic and backpack drive at Marjorie Post Park — the perfect mix of summer fun and back-to-school spirit.

• End-of-summer concerts and events at John J. Burns Park, part of the town’s summer music series.
  
  
• Groovin’ the Massapicnic at Marjorie Post Park — live music and a laid-back way to close out the season.
  
  
• Labor Day and end-of-season celebrations happening locally to send summer off the right way.
  
  

So if you’re not quite ready to let go either… you still have time.

Here’s to the last beach day, one more sunset, and maybe just one more night that turns into a late one.
